Welcome to the American Revolution II

Welcome to the American Revolution II
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.
"We face a hostile ideology global in scope, atheistic in character, ruthless in purpose and insidious in method..." and warned about what he saw as unjustified government spending proposals and continued with a warning that "we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex... The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist... Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together."Dwight D. RECREATIONAL RENAISSANCE Ka Iwi as we know it today will never be the same

Ka Iwi

Aloha, we are sorry to cast a dark shadow over the recent good news regarding the Governor's action to change the land use designation of the Ka Iwi makai lands from urban to conservation BUT this is serious...and needs your immediate attention. Please share with your friends.

HB 980 Ka Iwi included - 911

Hearing WLO 02-09 -09.

Status

RELATING TO RECREATIONAL RENAISSANCE.

Fortifies the recreational renaissance program of the department of land and natural resources through various amendments to state law.

On Monday ( Hearing WLO 02-09 -09 ) this committee will deliberate on HB 980 a.k.a. Recreational Renaissance and if passed as written (click on link HB980 above) Ka Iwi as we know it today will never be the same. Ka Iwi is on the 'user fee hit list' which means the State will now rely on this area to help make bank for other park projects. It also means changes as noted in section 10 will be at their discretion -- read section 10 and see what sort of wild things can happen. The word 'cabin' is included and though we suspect that may refer to specific Big Island parks that is not what it says.

We need Ka Iwi taken off this list.

This is not fair and completely derails us from our long term vision to form partnerships to purchase mauka lands. 30 years in the making to protect this wild natural resource and this happens? Go figure! Please write to us if you feel differently. If you agree with our position to keep Ka Iwi in its natural state and deleted from HB980 please send your letter today or tomorrow to:
